If you like to binge watch on Netflix cooking shows, then Culinary Class Wars is certainly not a show to miss!

May it be its larger than life sets or its uniquely expert contestants in their respective fields, this show is thoroughly planned to impress and keep you hooked through every episode. With each episode providing a new take on challenges, whether they are team challenges or the individual ones, the very first introductory episode makes you understand how star studded the show is as every contender is highly proficient in their culinary journey, along with their highly celebrated judges.

Although it is first of its kind, this Korean gastronomic show is not your average Netflix cooking competition. What makes it more interesting is its literal class divide among the contestants based on their experience and accomplishments.

Here they created two classes among 100 participants: the "White Spoons” and the "Black Spoons.” As you can guess, the White Spoons are 20 highly notable chefs, acing in their game for many years, even being Michelin Star holders and top restaurateurs in their country. Then, there are 80 chefs who belong to the Black Spoon class, who were also truly the hidden gems of Korean gastronomic industry. Many of them even had well known restaurants with all-booked reservations.

To be honest, the Black Spoons vs. White Spoons rivalry theme of this cooking show was carefully designed to bring out the spirit of a highly determined-to-win mindset among its opponents. It brought out the best in them, as they really wanted to prove themselves on an international level.

In addition, as if this class divide wasn’t enough, they further fueled it with the elimination of 60 Black Spoons, who competed among themselves, to have a FACEOFF with the superior class of White Spoons. This level of elimination based on highly critical judgement was nothing less than mortifying.

However, this show only leaves you wondering how the Korean culture has excellence in its general attitude. Whether you talk about the contestants, the judges or the way the sets and the show is curated, it all feels like they have given their best. It feels like a team effort to leave a global mark of the Korean Gastronomic scene through a world famous platform like Netflix.
