Need a new show to watch after The Beast in Me? Well, Netflix just added the perfect show for you to watch right now, and it also happens to be Claire Danes' best TV show.
Of course, I'm talking about Homeland, the hit spy thriller from Showtime. The series was just added to Netflix for the first time ever. If you've yet to watch this TV series, I can't recommend it enough!
Homeland, which is easily one of the best TV shows of the 2010s, stars Danes as CIA agent Carrie Mathison. In the field, Carrie receives a tip that an American Marine taken prisoner has been turned by al-Qaeda and will be used to carry out an attack against the United States. Carrie tries desperately to get to the bottom of the mystery, even if it costs her everything.
That's just where the series begins, but there are so many twist and turns along the way.
In the series, Danes is joined by an incredible cast, including Mandy Patinkin, Damian Lewis, Morena Baccarin, David Harewood, Diego Klattenhoff, Morgan Saylor, Jackson Pace, F. Murray Abraham, Navid Negahban, Rupert Friend, and many more.
Created by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, Homeland premiered on Showtime in 2011 and ran for eight seasons through 2020. Interestingly, Debora Cahn, who is the creator of Netflix's The Diplomat, was a writer and executive producer on the series, as well. And, Matthew Rhys, who stars alongside Danes in The Beast in Me, is actually married, in real life, to Keri Russell who stars in The Diplomat. There are a lot of Netflix connections to all three shows now.
While I'd argue her Christmas movie The Family Stone is actually the best of Danes' work, Homeland is the show to watch right now if you're a fan of Danes. It's not a true murder mystery like The Beast in Me, but it is a mystery, and Danes plays an incredible character, much like she does in The Beast in Me, as well.
Not without flaws, Homeland is an incredible show to binge-watch. With this being the first time the show is available to stream on Netflix, I have a feeling that we'll see a huge spike in popularity as we enter the holiday season. The Beast in Me is the No. 1 show on Netflix right now, and it will likely remain that way until the release of Stranger Things 5 on Wednesday, Nov. 26, which means there's no better time to start watching Homeland right now.
For the cherry on top, Homeland also stars a young Timothée Chalamet. Chalamet and Danes in the same show? Forget about it!
Watch all eight seasons of Homeland on Netflix right now!
