Dearest Gentle Readers, the rumors of a Bridgerton season 4 finale post-credits scene were true! As early leaks first suggested, the Bridgerton season 4 finale made franchise history in delivering an unexpected bonus scene after the initial credits began to roll and this was not just any ordinary post-credits scene: it was one of the best uses we’ve seen from the device in the history of Netflix.

Unlike other studios, Netflix has never been known for bringing fans post-credits scenes on a regular basis; however, when the occasion is right, it’s weaved in some fun scenes. This is a creative choice that has been left up to the creative teams of shows, and thankfully the Bridgerton team found a genius use of its first post-credits scene.

Warning: The following post will be diving into spoilers related to the ending of Bridgerton season 4.

As season 4 comes to an end, we find ourselves back where Benedict and Sophie’s love story first began. After overcoming the obstacles thrown their way, the couple managed to find a way to be with one another and ended the season at the gazebo where they shared their first dance together at the Bridgerton masquerade ball. Only this time, Sophie’s identity was no longer unknown and when the clock struck midnight, there was no need to flee Cinderella style. The pair ended the season dancing under the moonlight, getting their happily ever after.

The ending was fitting and truly brought their story full circle; however, the ending seemed to rob fans of a key element they’ve come to expect: a wedding.

While we got to see Benedict’s proposal to Sophie, we did not get to see the pair exchange vows by the design of the ending. At first, we thought this was about to be another Kate and Anthony situation – fans will remember how the show famously failed to give Kanthony stans a wedding between the pair. Thankfully, that was not the case as Bridgerton delivered a wedding in the post-credits scene of the finale!

After the initial wave of credits, we jump ahead an unspecified amount of time to Benedict and Sophie’s wedding day. The scene brings some fun interactions between the Bridgerton family members in attendance including a sweet brotherly moment between Benedict and Anthony, and a fun tease of Eloise, Francesca, and Violet’s futures with some pre-wedding banter.

We then get to see Sophie walk down the aisle in her stunning wedding dress and exchange vows with Benedict before the pair are pronounced husband and wife. We get to see the pair’s first kiss as a married couple and the scene concludes with a pan into the house where we see Benedict’s finished painting of the Lady in Silver.

It was a scene that only lasted a few minutes, but was absolutely perfect and one of the best uses of a post-credits scene. This scene not only dropped some Easter eggs about what’s to come, but it gave fans the chance to witness a major moment in Benedict and Sophie’s love story. To have not gotten to see the pair’s wedding would have been a major letdown, so the fact that the creative team took time to shoot that scene and drop it into the finale as a bonus scene was a brilliant creative decision. This was the perfect example of how to do a post-credits scene right by giving fans a truly meaningful and unforgettable bonus scene.

We have to tip our hats to the Bridgerton team for their use of the post-credits scene in the season 4 finale, while thanking them for managing to give us not one, but two spectacular endings to the season!
