The 2024 American romantic drama film It Ends with Us is an adaptation of a 2016 romantic novel written by Colleen Hoover. This movie has garnered good popularity as it has managed to capture the very sensitive matter of physical and emotional abuse. Colleen has been sharing the inspiration of writing this sentimental book which is actually the abusive relationship of her own parents.

The film's cast includes Blake Lively (who is also the producer) and Justin Baldoni (the director) as lead actors. Alongside, you can also see Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj in the group of actors.

This movie is directed beautifully as it balances out the flashback memories of a young adult, Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) with her present experiences. Lily is a person who is shown to juggle very traumatic experiences from her parents’ abusive relationship along with her very own lost teenage love life while she maneuvers into adulthood.

It Ends with Us will certainly make your day better

The story becomes interesting when Lily finds herself at the crossroads of emotions when she visits her hometown to attend her father’s funeral. Despite this emotional moment, her resentment for her dead father was seemingly so strong that it was impossible for her to list down even five good things about him in his eulogy.

On this short trip, Lily also gets to meet this rich and handsome neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni). Upon their first meeting, they flirted. However, Lily still chose not to stay in contact with him as she was more interested in a meaningful relationship rather than just a casual hookup.

Fast forwarding things a few months ahead, Ryle meets Lily again as she hires his sister in her flower shop without her knowing their relationship. And that is where the fairytale begins for Lily as Ryle continues to pursue her while ticking all the boxes a man can for any girl. And as expected, they even elope since they both become quite inseparable.

But here comes the twist, after their marriage, Ryle starts showing signs of serious jealousy towards her former teenage lover Atlas (Brandon Sklenar), who they have accidently bumped into while visiting his restaurant.

This is where Lily starts suffering emotional and domestic abuse as Ryles behavior begins to worsen, which further gives her flashbacks of how she witnessed her parent's traumatic relationship. This is the point where Lily realizes, after naming the first instances of domestic violence as an accident, that she herself is now turning into a victim, which she never wanted for herself to be.

But will she continue to normalize this part of her love story with Ryle, or would she want to break this cycle as she is also now a mother to a daughter herself? Will she be a role model for her baby girl to stand up for herself, or will she succumb to her strong feelings for Ryle? Find out by watching this amazing movie as it is a must-watch for both men and women.
