Are you ready for it? Black Mirror season 7 dropped on Thursday, April 10, and it is again great. You might have even taken the day off from work to stream the series, which is only six episodes long.
In other words, you could call off work, take a long weekend, watch the new season of your favorite show, and still have lots of time left to watch something else. Sounds like a wonderful weekend, doesn't it?
But before you delve into season 7, here are some familiar faces you will see during the season. A few of them were from previous seasons. Some others are brand new.
Here are some of the familiar faces you will see in Netflix's Black Mirror season 7
Awkwafina
- Plays Kimmy in "Hotel Reverie"
Her character owns a company that has Redream software. The system is designed to place current Hollywood stars in older films, giving the flick a fresh appeal. Sounds simple, right? It's not.
You've likely seen Awkwafina in such gems as Crazy Rich Asians or doing great voice work in such franchises as The Simpsons and Kung Fu Panda.
Paul Giamatti
- Plays Phillip in "Eulogy"
Where have you not seen Giamatti? Heck, he was even in Pretty Woman. He delivered brilliance in Sideways and was fantastic in The Holdovers. He is also excellent in his episode in season 7, but beware. The show has quite a bit of melancholy.
Rashida Jones
- Plays Amanda in "Common People"
You know where you have seen Jones before. She was part of The Office and also Parks and Recreation. She also happens to be the daughter of Quincy Jones. But Jones has been a worthy career on her own. Her character in Black Mirror season 7 is not exactly humorous.
Cristin Milioti
- Plays Nanette Cole in "USS Callister: Into Infinity"
Milioti has had a slow-burn career until recently. She had a small part inĀ How I Met Your Mother and was good in Palm Springs. She made a star turn on Max's The Penguin, however. She is deliciously evil.
Chris O'Dowd
- Plays Mike in "Common People"
Dowd also seems to play a role with a wry sense of humor, delivering that with excellence. The episode for this series is not funny, but O'Dowd is still brilliant. You may have previously seen him in The IT Crowd or The Big Door Prize.
Issa Rae
- Plays Brandy Friday in "Hotel Reverie"
Rae is a gem in a highly underrated comedy called A Black Lady Sketch Show, but her face might be most familiar to you if you saw Barbie (and we know you did). In her Black Mirror episode, she plays a famous actress who is tired of doing the same thing all the time. A new opportunity is not what she thinks it is, though.
Tracee Ellis Ross
- Plays Gaynor in "Common People"
Ross is a super-smart and versatile actress. Her previous work includes American Fiction and Black-ish. She can bring the funny and the drama and do each equally well. In Black Mirror, she helps a couple keep one of them alive. (No spoiler alerts here!)
Jimmi Simpson
- Plays Walton on "USS Callister" episodes
You might know Simpson from Westworld, but let's be honest. What we really know Simpson from is his role as one of the McPoyles on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He can play creepy with ease, even though he appears to be a likable and normal person away from the set.
