If you can believe it, six years have already passed since we said goodbye to the Rose family in Schitt's Creek. Since then, we have been desperately missing the singular sense of humor of Dan Levy on our screens, but the actor and writer is finally back with a brand-new show. This time, he's bringing his talents to Netflix in the crime comedy Big Mistakes.

Once again, Levy's on board as the show's co-creator, having crafted the series with fellow hilarious actor-writer Rachel Sennott, and back in front of the camera in the leading role. While Schitt's Creek was a quirky, heartwarming comedy, Big Mistakes flips what you think you know about Levy's creative output on its head. This show is much more rough around the edges.

Thankfully, the laughs are coming to our watch lists very soon. When can we start watching Big Mistakes on Netflix? We're sharing what fans need to know about the release date and time, the show's ensemble cast, and more about what to expect from the new Netflix series!

Who stars in Big Mistakes with Dan Levy?

Like with his previous scripted comedy series, Dan Levy leads the Big Mistakes cast as Nicky, a pastor who's soon thrown into a complicated mess with his family. By his side as a partner in crime is Nicky's sister Morgan, played by Taylor Ortega, who previously appeared in titles like Welcome to Flatch, Another Simple Favor, Ghosts, and The Four Seasons.

Levy and Ortega are joined by Emmy and Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee Laurie Metcalf as their mother Linda. The iconic star has appeared in titles such as Roseanne, Desperate Housewives, Lady Bird, Getting On, Scream 2, The Conners, and plenty more film and television appearances over the years. Their family is fleshed out by Mad About You star Abby Quinn.

What to expect from the new Netflix show

As previously stated, you shouldn't begin watching Big Mistakes expecting to watch something similar to Schitt's Creek. While the laughter from Dan Levy's writing and performance will definitely be similar, the shows couldn't be more different. Levy's new series has a pretty significant crime slant, as a pair of siblings make a mistake that lands them in the crosshairs of organized crime.

Here's how Netflix describes the series in its official synopsis:

"Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Dan Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Blackmailed into increasingly dangerous assignments, they clumsily fail upwards, sinking deeper into chaos they’re ill-equipped to handle."

Netflix has also given Big Mistakes a TV-MA age rating for language and smoking, but given the crime subgenre and some of the subject matter previewed in the trailer, we can also expect violence (physical and from guns), drug use, and potential nudity to come into play. What's for sure is that it's going to be a wild ride that keeps us guessing and laughing from start to finish.
