Narcos is the biggest international hit for Netflix and told the story of Colombian drug lord, political hopeful and wannabe man of the people, Pablo Escobar. We see the rise of Escobar (played by Golden Globe nominee Wagner Moura as a small-time smuggler to the foremost cocaine importer/exporter and feared killer and terrorist.

Moura is great as the powerful, persuasive and ruthless Escobar as proven with his Golden Globe nomination, but I liked DEA agent Steven Murphy (Holbrook) who is also the show’s narrator and his approach to trying to bring Escobar to justice.

He and his partner Javier Pena (Pascal) are an unlikely pairing and there aren’t many classic scenes with the two but their dogged pursuit of Escobar along with the Colombian law enforcement and government officials trying to capture Escobar makes for a captivating crime series.

There are three seasons of the series on Netflix right now. The series then shifts to Mexico for two seasons and a third, likely, on the way.
