Altered Carbon is a really cool show and one that has never really been done before by Netflix. This marks the first foray into an underrepresented genre, noir cyberpunk, and it was an instant hit. Joel Kinnaman plays Takeshi Kovachs who is murdered by a rebel army but is taken off ice 300 years later and his consciousness and all his memories are uploaded into a new body, which is called a sleeve on the series.

Death is no longer permanent as long as your stack doesn’t get blown. It’s a death that has brought Kovachs back where he was in a prison for the rest of eternity. Laurens Bancroft is one of the richest man on this planet, and he brought Kovachs back and equipped in an expensive sleeve so he can solve his extremely complicated murder. One dead man solving the murder of another dead man who is now alive sounds like a heck of a mind game, right?

Start watching the series on Netflix and you’ll see that this is merely just the starting point for a series that features some killer action and fight sequences and incredible special effects.

Netflix canceled Altered Carbon after the second season of the series aired in February 2020.
