 5. John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City

I”m a big fan of John Mulaney and his latest Netflix special that came out on May 1, 2018 is his most complete and best special to date. He might be the biggest draw in stand-up outside of Kevin Hart who is selling out NFL stadiums, but Mulaney selling out Radio City Music Hall for a week is quite the achievement for the 35-year-old comedian.

Kid Gorgeous was a milestone achievement for the comedian who has two other specials on Netflix, including the Oh, Hello! on Broadway special with Nick Kroll. Each is wonderful in their own right, but if you can only watch one, you need to make it this special.

I loved how self-deprecating Mulaney is in the special, opening up with his conversation about his mother about whether she’s seen a ghost before. When you don’t have any kids and you’re a 35-year-old and your mom doesn’t quite understand what it is you do for a living, this is the type of conversation you have.

His recollection of having assemblies in grade school when you sit and listen to a man you have no idea who or what it is he’s doing was incredibly relatable and when he transitioned to the “stranger danger” assembly story with the Chicago cop with a funny name and a handlebar mustache who would strike the fear of imminent death was startingly uproarious.

That’s just the tip of what you’re getting in this special from Mulaney who is a meteor shooting toward the top of the stand-up circuit.
