Nappily Ever After, a romantic drama, premiered on Netflix on Sept. 21, 2020. The Netflix movie has an excellent cast led by Sanaa Lathan, who is so good in this movie. Fans of She’s Gotta Have It will recognize Lyriq Bent, who plays Jamie Overstreet in that Netflix original series.

For those unfamiliar with the story, the Netflix movie is based on the book of the same name by Trisha R. Thompson. It was published in 2000. You should probably read the book after watching the Netflix movie.

The film tells the story of Violet, played by Sanaa Lathan, who has a great life, a great job, and a great, handsome boyfriend. The only problem is that she’s unhappy, and her boyfriend won’t commit. One day, she gets fed up and shaves her head. This action leads her on a path to happiness, acceptance and independence.

I highly recommend watching Nappily Ever After on Netflix if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s one of the best movies, overall, from Netflix so far.
