With each new month comes new additions to your watchlist. April brought us the Netflix Original Devil May Cry alongside many other traditional anime like The Apothecary Diaries, and May continues this by introducing even more shows.
This includes newer episodes of One Piece's Egghead Island arc and The Apothecary Diaries's Season Two, as well as sequels and spin-offs of like My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
Some completely new series have also been added, such as the currently-airing Witch Watch and Sasaki and Peeps. We've put together a list of the best Netflix anime, so you know what to watch on Netflix in May 2025.
Best new anime arriving on Netflix in May
Sasaki and Peeps
Getting a pet can change many things in your life, especially if you're a middle-aged businessman. For Sasaki, saving the bird named Pii-chan gives him magical powers belonging to one of the greatest mages in another world.
Where Sasaki just wants to use these to live an easier life, he's quickly thrown into a world where he has to mediate for wars, fight off evil, and keep up with secret agencies.
Under Ninja
Ninjas have always been popular in anime and manga, sneaking around and performing unique Jutsus to outdo opponents. These masters of disguise were thought to be a thing of the past, but Under Ninja tells of a story where Ninjas live in current-day Japan and are tasked with various undercover jobs.
Yaiba: Samurai Legend
If you're a fan of old-school shonen, then Yaiba: Samurai Legend is an absolute treat for you. Coming from an era before Dragon Ball and Hunter X Hunter were popular, this show has everything that made those shows so great. Lots of action, tons of charm, and nostalgia unlike anything you'd expect from a show in 2025.
Witch Watch
Genius comes in all forms, and Nico Wakatsuki is a prodigy in all the wrong ones. Despite excelling in magic, she messes up the simplest of spells in the weirdest ways imaginable. It's up to Morihito to ensure Nico stays out of trouble, making for a heartwarmingly comedic slice-of-life anime about witches and ogres.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
My Hero Academia answered what it means to be a hero, showing us the highs and lows of Hero society through All Might and Deku. Even though their story is over, Kohei Horikoshi is already back with a spin-off taking place years before Deku became a hero, this time focusing on those working unlicensed.
