Underworld

Release Year: 2003

Written by Len Wisemen, Kevin Grevioux, Danny McBride

Directed by Len Wisemen

Starring Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Shane Brolly, Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, Wentworth Miller, Robbie Gee, Sophia Myles

In Underworld, Selene (Kate Beckinsale), a vampire and expert Lycan hunter, is caught up in the war between Vampires and Lycans because she develops feelings for a human who is being hunted by the Lycans. Selene’s curiosity leads her into matters that are none of her concern.

For reasons unknown, critics tend to hate on Underworld. While I understand the acting and plot gets a little wonky at times, the action sequences are pretty good. On top of that, it’s Werewolves (Lycans) vs. Vampires! What more can anyone ask for in an action movie?

Underworld was the first of four Underworld movies, but only the first movie and the sequel Underworld: Evolution are on Netflix.
