Of course, Sleepy Hollow has been adapted from the story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which is about Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.

In the film, Johnny Depp stars as Ichabod Crane, a New York City constable who ventures from to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a string of murders.

Rick Heinricks and Peter Young, production designer and decorator of Sleepy Hollow,won the Oscar for Best Art Direction at the 2000 Academy Awards.

While the folk tale about Sleepy Hollow is sort of unsettling, Sleepy Hollow, the movie, is disturbing and dark in a good way that feels very spooky and Halloween-y, if that’s possible. If you’re looking for a great Halloween movie with solid acting performances and a good story, Sleepy Hollow is a great pick.
