One of the best Hunger Games movies is officially coming to Netflix next month

The odds must be ever in our favor, Netflix fans, because the best and most recent Hunger Games movies is finally heading to Netflix US for the first time ever.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is officially coming to Netflix US on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is based on Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games prequel. The film premiered in theaters in 2023. It tells the origin story of Coriolanus Snow, played by Tom Blyth, during the early days of The Hunger Games. When a young District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), is assigned as his mentee, Snow does what he can to keep her alive.

Blyth and Zegler star in the film, along with Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, and more.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is one of my favorite Hunger Games movies. I think The Hunger Games and Catching Fire are my top two, while the Mockingjay movies are the bottom two on the list.

If there was any Hunger Games movie I should have some bad feelings about, it's this one, though! I watched this movie on an airplane in the middle of insane turbulence. As the plane was shaking, rattling, and stuff flying all over the place, I kept trying to turn the screen off so I wouldn't throw up, but the screen was broken, so I had to endure Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler while trying not to get motion sickness. Anyway, it worked out fine, the turbulence end, and I finished the movie without barfing. I guess that proves how much I dislike the Mockingjay movies.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is hitting Netflix at the perfect time, too. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping arrives in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026. We have to imagine that The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will likely remain on Netflix until that time.

Unfortunately, it's not all good news for Hunger Games fans. In the past, and before The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was released, Netflix has had all four Hunger Games movies available to stream. That's not the case right now. You'll have to watch The Hunger Games movies on another streaming service if you want to watch all five, but that could change soon.
