Below release time on Netflix, trailer, and what to know about Josh Hartnett's thriller

We're off to an incredible start with Netflix's batch of new release original series in October 2026, with the month kicking off strong with the drama limited series East of Eden. The star-studded miniseries passes the baton to another series led by an A-lister, the mystery thriller Below starring Josh Hartnett. It's the perfect series to watch just as Halloween quickly approaches.

Below promises to deliver quite a few chills and thrills as a fisherman in Newfoundland faces the haunting threat of a sea creature that has been terrorizing his small community. The unknown deep-sea entity poses plenty of questions for Calvin Penney (Hartnett), his family, and neighbors as he also continues to unpack the curious circumstances surrounding his father's death.

Decades of strange happenings boil to the surface (or do they?) in Below, but when can we begin binge-watching the exciting new thriller limited series on Netflix? While moviegoers can catch Hartnett in Verity on the big screen right now, he's also heading for our Netflix watch lists. We're sharing the release time for the series based on time zones around the world.

When is Below released on Netflix?

Below premieres on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026 on Netflix. The streaming service releases every episode of the limited series at once, and this particular limited series will be a rather quick binge. All told, the series contains six episodes which are expected to be about 45 minutes in length, give or take. That's the kind of show that you can finish within one single sitting.

But when you start that binge-watch depends on the show's release time in your area. Netflix releases all six episodes of Below at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT on Oct. 8. For those on the coasts of the United States, that's not a particularly convenient release time, though other parts of the world will be able to start watching in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

The trailer for Below introduces the complete span of Calvin's story, from witnessing his father's unexplained death in the water to the strange experiences happening again decades later now that he's a father to three adult children of his own. Additional sightings and an odd iceberg's arrival begin to put the pieces together of the mysterious entity that's been haunting Newfoundland.

In addition to Hartnett leading the cast, Below also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natasha Henstridge, Joshua Close, Rohan Campbell, Willow Kean, Ruby Stokes, Kaleb Horn, Mary Walsh, and Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton. There's no doubt we're about to experience one of Netflix's next best limited series that everyone will be talking about this fall season.
