For six seasons, viewers watched Daniel Ezra bring Spencer James to life in All American, following his journey from a talented high school football player in South Los Angeles to navigating the pressures of playing for a wealthy Beverly Hills school. Sadly, Ezra departed The CW series at the end of season 6, leaving fans heartbroken to see the end of his iconic role. He would make a cameo appearance in the seventh season for one episode, but that was it.

Since his departure from All American, fans have been curious about Ezra’s next move. The only new project he had been linked to was the upcoming action thriller The Running Man. Well, that's until now. This amazingly gifted actor has just signed on to a new television series. As reported by Deadline, Ezra is set to star in a Netflix show titled All the Sinners Bleed. This is pretty huge because this will be the first time he's ever starred in anything Netflix-related.

Daniel Ezra joins cast of All the Sinners Bleed

He's the latest addition to the cast, which already includes well-known actors such as Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Black Rabbit, His House), John Douglas Thompson (The Gilded Age, Mare of Easttown), and Nicole Beharie (The Morning Show, Black Mirror). Also announced to have just joined the cast alongside Ezra is Andrea Cortés (Bosch: Legacy, Mayans M.C.). Both join the cast as series regulars, so they have prominent roles.

All the Sinners Bleed is described as a thriller series. It's based on S.A. Cosby’s 2023 novel of the same name, and is adapted for television by Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Black Panther). Cole also serves as showrunner and executive producer. The Obamas' Higher Ground Productions and Amblin Television are producing the nine-episode series.

The plot revolves around Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county. Grappling with the tragic loss of his devout mother, Titus is tasked with leading the search for a serial killer who has been terrorizing his Black community for years under the guise of divine justification. Dìrísù takes on the lead role as Titus.

Ezra plays Titus's younger brother, Marquis Crown, while Cortés portrays Deputy Carla Ortiz, a police officer working in Titus’s precinct. Additionally, Beharie plays Darlene, Titus’s girlfriend, and Thompson as Albert Crown, Titus’s father.

So far, these are the details that have been revealed about All the Sinners Bleed. There will probably be more cast announcements in the near future, so be on the lookout for those. After watching Ezra play a football player for all those years, we're looking forward to seeing him take on a completely different role in what seems to be an intense thriller.
