It’s another new month at Netflix, which means that new movies are coming out, both originals and classic films that will have you either laughing or crying from beginning to end. Here are the six films you should check out.
21 Jump Street
If you want a classic comedy, 21 Jump Street is a great place to start. Starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, this buddy-cop movie adapts the TV series of the same name. It follows two police officers who go undercover at a high school to stop the outbreak of a new synthetic drug that is making its way around.
Look, it’s 21 Jump Street. You know exactly what you’re getting into with this movie because it’s hilarious in every sense of the word. Hill and Tatum have electric chemistry that is impossible not to love, and people adored this film so much that a sequel came out a few years later—and it's also available to stream. If you love this movie, you should check it out.
Animals
This new Netflix original movie will have you on the edge of your seat the moment it begins. Directed by Ben Affleck, this crime thriller follows a mayoral candidate whose son is suddenly kidnapped. To get him back, they’ll have to pay a ransom.
Unfortunately, they spent most of their own funds on his campaign, so they have to dig into the dark side of their lives to get that money.
The film has an impressive cast. Ben Affleck stars alongside Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and more. It premieres on the platform on Oct. 9, 2026.
Bring It On
What’s better than a cheerleading movie? Bring It On is coming to Netflix this October.
The iconic teen comedy stars Kirsten Dunst and tells the classic story of two high school cheerleading teams prepping for a national championship and going up against each other.
I think this is the comedy on this list that everyone loves to sit down and watch. And while we're at it, nothing compares to the first one; it’s also fun to watch Dunst in this role after the incredible career she's had over the last 26 years since the film was released. So why not check it out?
Sacrifice
Another new Netflix original film premieres in October, arriving on October 16, Sacrifice is an action-adventure mixed with satire and comedy, with a huge cast. The movie follows a film star trying to make a comeback. But while he’s doing so, he is suddenly abducted by a radical group (as well as two other people) to be used as a sacrificial lamb.
I mean, what? That’s the kind of stuff that is hilarious in so many ways but also terrifying and makes me so curious. The stars are also lined up, with names like Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek, Charli XCX, and more in the ensemble.
The Devil Wears Prada
You might have worn florals in the spring, but now it’s the fall, so I suppose it’s time to wear…orange? I don’t know; let’s see what Miranda would say in The Devil Wears Prada. Starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, this iconic film is coming to Netflix in October.
The movie follows Andy, a girl who wants to work in journalism and takes an assistant job at Runway, a huge, high-end magazine, despite having no fashion experience. While working there, she also has to deal with her boss from hell, Miranda Priestly.
There’s a reason we got a sequel to this movie more than two decades later, in 2026. It’s incredible. This is the kind of film that people from all over the world cherish and that anyone, no matter where you come from, can love, because the performances are absolutely amazing. I could talk about it for hours and hours.
Doing Life
Last but not least, we have Doing Life, a new film from director and writer Tyler Perry, coming directly to Netflix. Doing Life stars Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves and tells the story of a single mother who forms an unlikely bond with an ex-convict who, at one point, saved her during a riot when she worked as a prison officer.
I mean, talk about a creative premise and a romantic drama I wasn't expecting from Tyler Perry. It’s the kind of film you wouldn’t normally expect, but it looks really good. If you’re looking for a good date-night film, this might be it.
You can check out all these films and more on Netflix this October.
