There is never a bad time to watch horror movies, but there is something about watching them in October that just hits differently. And luckily for us, Netflix has us covered with an epic assortment of horror that will keep you spooked all month long.

With so many movies to choose from, we wanted to figure out which horror movies were on the must-watch list. Thanks to Netflix breaking its movies down into categories and even subcategories, it is easier than ever to find something new, as well as the classics we all know and love.

For October 2024, Netflix is going all out with some of the best horror movies. From Annabelle to As Above So Below, these are five of the best horror movies to watch this month (and beyond).

5 horror movies to watch on Netflix in October 2024

Annabelle

If you already find porcelain dolls creepy, this movie is a perfect horror movie for you. Based on a true story, but done in a way that is heavily fictionalized, this movie will make you jump. It will also make it impossible to walk by a porcelain doll without getting a bit creeped out. (Seriously, this doll is beyond possessed.)

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

There is something about this movie that got my heart racing. And I love that with a good horror movie. This one features scary stories that seemingly come to life in terrible ways and it was surprisingly entertaining. I think the nostalgia factor is what makes this one worth watching, at least once.

As Above So Below

I have only watched this horror movie once and it still lives in my head rent-free. It was terrifying the first time I watched it and even just seeing clips of it has me reliving that fear. This movie takes you into the underbelly of Paris and explores the idea of purgatory and Hell, and facing your own worst nightmares.

Ouija: Origin of Evil

There is something about the idea of communicating with the dead that already brings a bit of a chill, but then having a horror movie (or technically a series of movies) based around the idea of unleashing evil with that communication board adds an extra layer of creepiness. This is a period piece, which helps to add to the horror aspect, but it also deals with a fake medium whose daughter ends up letting a demon loose after using the Ouija board. It's terrifying in its own way.

Halloween (2018)

The Halloween franchise is a classic and you can't go through the entire month of October without watching at least one of the Michael Myers movies. With the 2018 Halloween movie being available on Netflix, this is the one we are going to indulge in for this year's spooky season!

There are so many horror movies to choose from on Netflix, including sequels and indies, that will keep you in the spirit of the spooky season all month long. So what will you be watching?
