It's been a great year for Netflix shows in 2025. There have been so many amazing new shows that have already been renewed and even more fan-favorite returning shows that have been confirmed to be back with new seasons. But there's always a chance that some of our favorites won't get renewed and will be hit with an unfortunate cancellation.
Even though Netflix has gained a reputation for canceling a large number of its original series in the past, the streamer has more recently been on quite the renewal kick. Still, there have been some unfortunate cancellations at Netflix this year, like The Waterfront, Pulse, The Resident, Boots, and a number of other established hits that will end after one last season.
What's on the chopping block going into the new year? The streamer could still announce some bad or bittersweet news about some titles before 2025 ends, but there are a few new and returning Netflix shows that could be announced for final seasons or outright canceled early into the new year. Here are the five Netflix shows we're thinking could be canceled or final seasoned.

A Man on the Inside
While the critical reception for A Man on the Inside season 2 was about the same as the first season, according to its Rotten Tomatoes score, the viewership appeared to display a marked decline. Unfortunately, that places the comedy series in danger of being canceled, either before 2025 comes to an end or in early 2026.
On the bright side, there's also a chance that the Ted Danson comedy from Mike Schur could receive a renewal for a third and final season to wrap up Charles Nieuwendyk's story. The series isn't among one of Netflix's most expensive and has some star power behind it. That could help its chances, but we're not especially confident about its longevity after season 2.

Emily in Paris
As much hate as it received, Emily in Paris has been thriving since the second it dropped on Netflix. Call it what you want, but the series (which was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the Emmys once upon a time, by the way) is one of Netflix's biggest comedies. There's never a chance that it will be canceled in the traditional sense, but a final season could be finally on the way.
Emily in Paris season 5 premiered on Dec. 18 and is in no way a final season. There's a zero percent chance that Netflix will cancel the series now. It's too popular around the world and too big of a piece of the streamer's brand. But the story has quickly approached a potentially natural ending place, which means season 6 could be the final season when it's announced by Netflix.

Wednesday
Like Emily in Paris, the world "canceled" will never be in the same sentence as Wednesday. Never! A show doesn't become one of the most-watched Netflix original series of all time and then get unexpectedly canceled. That just will never happen. But there's also a decent chance that the already renewed third season could eventually be revealed to be the final season.
It shouldn't be surprising if, at some point in 2026, Netflix announces that Wednesday season 3 will be the last hurrah for the Wednesday Addams origin story. For a number of reasons, including the production time and Jenna Ortega's schedule, Wednesday might not return beyond season 3. That might be the best choice for the story, too, to wrap up after one last mystery.

XO, Kitty
If you'll entertain one more possible case of final seasoning, the romantic teen dramedy XO, Kitty could be the next fan-favorite Netflix show on the final season chopping block. The To All the Boys I've Loved Before spinoff series has been a slam dunk with viewers and has attained its own fandom. But Netflix's teen series tend to end much sooner than its other content.
After season 2's premiere in January 2025, Netflix renewed XO, Kitty season 3, which wasn't teased as a final season. There's still a chance that the third season could be the swan song, but there's also a change that the series could be renewed for season 4 and that will be the final season, following in the four-season footsteps of fellow Netflix teen comedy Never Have I Ever.

House of Guinness
Netflix debuted a number of new drama series this fall, with most of them introduced as limited series or miniseries. Period drama House of Guinness wasn't given the designation of being either, so that leads us to believe that it could still be a contender for a second season renewal. Well, given that it's been months since its release with no season 2 news, it's not looking particularly good.
Sure, there's still a chance that the series could score a surprise renewal. Sometimes UK series have a different timeline, and the show did come from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. But the show's hype died down after the season came and went in September. We wouldn't be surprised if House of Guinness was revealed to be canceled in early 2026.
