When those additions are action films, the excitement only doubles!

This April, Netflix will be adding five action-packed spy films starring Tom Cruise to its platform. That's right! For fans of high‑stakes espionage, jaw‑dropping stunts, and blockbuster spectacle, this lineup is a dream come true. All five films in the classic portion of the Mission: Impossible franchise will be streaming on Netflix next month. We're talking from the original 1996 thriller through some of the most beloved sequels in the franchise’s history. And guess what? They're all dropping on the same day!

Here's a list of the five Mission: Impossible movies arriving on Netflix in April:

  • Mission: Impossible (1996)
  • Mission: Impossible II (2000)
  • Mission: Impossible III (2006)
  • Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
  • Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)

So, when exactly will these films be added to Netflix? Well, it'll be Wednesday, April 1, 2026. That's April Fools' Day. The streaming giant shared the official release date via a press release about the shows and movies coming to its platform next month. Don't believe us? You can even check out the movies' title pages on Netflix, and a reminder that they'll be landing on the platform on Wednesday is provided.

While we don't know the exact time when these Mission: Impossible movies will be dropping on Netflix, there's a chance that they might be released at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on April 1. That's the time the streaming giant usually adds new content to its library, so keep that in mind. We'd also like to note that these films will not remain on Netflix forever.

Given that they're licensed content, they will eventually depart the streaming platform. At this moment, it's unknown what licensing agreement Netflix has in place for these Mission: Impossible movies. So we don’t know exactly how long subscribers will have to stream all five films. However, this is something else to keep in mind if you plan to binge them all. It's best to do so sooner rather than later.

Below, we shared what each movie is about:

1. Mission: Impossible

Directed by Brian De Palma, Mission: Impossible is the film that started it all. It introduced audiences to Ethan Hunt (played by Cruise), an IMF agent framed for the deaths of his own team. To clear his name, Ethan embarks on a tense and intricate mission to uncover a mole within the IMF.

2. Mission: Impossible II

Directed by John Woo, the second installment shifted into more stylized, action-driven territory. With a deadly virus called Chimera threatening the world, Hunt teams up with Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandiwe Newton), a skilled thief, to prevent a global catastrophe.

3. Mission: Impossible III

J.J. Abrams’ third entry adds both emotional stakes and personal drama. Hunt faces off against ruthless arms dealer Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman) while balancing his personal life, including the introduction of his fiancée, played by Michelle Monaghan.

4. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

By the fourth film, the Mission: Impossible series had fully embraced global spectacle. Brad Bird’s direction takes Hunt and his team on a rogue mission after the IMF is disavowed for a catastrophic bombing. This entry is best remembered for Cruise scaling the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

5. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation pits Hunt against the mysterious Syndicate, a rogue spy organization capable of outmatching IMF at every turn. The film introduces Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust, a memorable character whose loyalties keep both Hunt and audiences guessing. From a tense underwater sequence to a breathtaking sequence on the side of a speeding airplane, the film raises the stakes like never before.

As of March 30, Netflix currently carries Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. That's the seventh installment in the action franchise. However, you'll have to head on over to Paramount+ if you want to watch the other two films. They are Mission: Impossible – Fallout (the sixth movie) and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (the eighth movie).

All five of the high-octane Mission: Impossible films mentioned earlier are set to be added to Netflix on April 1. Don't forget to save this important date!
