4 best South Korean dramas on Netflix to check out

Netflix has a ridiculously large catalog of shows from all over the world, and one country that I have to give flowers to is South Korea. The country itself is the true star of Netflix and has some amazing dramas that, if you are looking for a fantastic series to watch, are perfect.

Yes, I know the first thing we all think of is Squid Game, but there are plenty of other fantastic South Korean dramas on Netflix that any viewer would love. Here are my four picks.

All Of Us Are Dead

Now this is an epic Netflix show. All of Us Are Dead is an apocalyptic horror series that is based on the webtoon of the same name. The series follows a group of students who are locked inside a school while a super highly contagious zombie virus spreads.

Honestly, this show is extremely addictive. I still remember when I watched the first season, and I was so in tune with what was going on that I had my phone running while I was lying in bed, just wanting to get to the next episode. If you happen to love horror, this is the series for you. It has been some time since we were promised a season 2, but I still have hope it’ll release at some point.

Crash Landing On You

While it’s certainly not as intense as All of Us Are Dead, this series is the perfect amount of drama and comedy and one that everyone I have talked to about it will recommend.

Crash Landing On You is about a South Korean woman who, while paragliding, is caught up in a tornado (don’t ask) and swept over the border into North Korea, where a man who is a part of the North Korean army hides her so she isn’t captured. Despite the political divide between the two countries, they develop feelings for each other.

Yes, it is just as mushy as you would expect it to be, but there’s also a lot of political conversation within the series as well that makes it just as good. Plus, the acting is great, and there’s something to be said about the original storyline mixing in common tropes like “forbidden love.”

Hellbound

If you happen to love the scariest horror movies on Netflix, then Hellbound might be for you. This South Korean drama series follows an alternate world where supernatural “angels” come to Earth, but their mission is to send people to their deaths—a “death” decree—and then demons come and kill those they pick.

This series is intense, but it is perfect for someone who wants a show that will lock you in from the very beginning. And I’m always a huge fan of supernatural shows that take on different angles of common beings like angels and demons. It does it so well.

Kingdom

The last I have to recommend is Kingdom. It’s one of the best zombie shows on Netflix. The series mainly follows the crown prince of the Joseon period of Korea, where he makes it his mission to investigate the reason behind his people turning into flesh-eating monsters.

The choreography with fighting and swords alone in this is phenomenal, but if you want gore, this show gives it to you and more. And the story really locks you in too. There are two seasons, so plenty to binge during a nice little weekend getaway.

There are truly so many amazing picks for shows to watch, but if you go with any of these, you’ll be in for a wild ride—and probably wanting even more.
