Best: The Perfect Find

I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed watching The Perfect Find. Although my favorite movie genre is romantic comedy, the last couple of rom-coms I had watched let me down. So, I went in watching The Perfect Find with low expectations, but I finished the movie with a smile on my face.

The rom-com stars Gabrielle Union as fashion editor Jenna Jones, who after experiencing a terrible public breakup and high-profile firing, hits rock bottom. She’s in desperate need of a career comeback, and she soon finds it at fashion magazine, Darzine, which her former rival Darcy Hill runs. But her career resurrection gets complicated when a charming and much younger man strolls into her life and sweeps her off her feet. What’s complicated? Well, the young man is her new boss’s son. Plot twist!

Keith Powers, who is known for starring as Ronnie DeVoe in the BET biographical miniseries The New Edition Story, plays the role of Eric, the young man who catches Jenna’s interest. Aisha Hinds, DB Woodside, Alani “La La” Anthony, Gina Torres, and Janet Hubert also star in the film.

In my opinion, Netflix doesn’t have that many good rom-coms on its platform. But The Perfect Find is one of the very few that’s worth checking out. So, be sure to add this feel-good movie to your watchlist.
