Worst: The Mother

I was greatly disappointed after watching The Mother. I’m a fan of Jennifer Lopez and her acting work, especially when she stars in thrillers, but The Mother just wasn’t it. First, the plot wasn’t original at all. We’ve seen similar movies like The Mother many times before, so that was already a turnoff. There were also gaping holes in the plot, and most of what happened in the film you can see coming from a mile away. So, there wasn’t much excitement and suspense.

Honestly, Jennifer’s acting wasn’t up to par in this film either. She was amazing in the thriller flick Enough, and I was expecting the same or a better performance in The Mother. But her acting in this film was mediocre at best. In fact, she and several of the other actors seemed to overact at times. Also, the movie just seemed all over the place and rushed. I was confused and disconnected throughout most of the film.

However, I will say that there were a lot of action-packed scenes, but that wasn’t enough to save this film. So, if you’re looking for something more suspenseful to watch, do not turn this on. Instead, stream the Extraction film series on Netflix. Now, those are some good action-thriller movies!

Here’s what the film is about via Netflix Media Center:

"A deadly female assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men."
