The reunion we’ve been waiting for! Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie is now streaming (but not on Netflix)
While I’m personally not always a fan of sequels, depending on what the project is, there is something special about reunion movies! And for any of you Monk fans out there who are Netflix users, you’re probably wondering if reunion film, Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, is streaming on Netflix.
Unfortunately, no. Mr. Monk’s Last Case is not streaming on Netflix. That’s because the mystery comedy-drama with the intriguing and OCD-ridden titular character was produced by a different company. And it’s not likely that company will choose to license the movie to Netflix.
So where can you watch the production? Which streaming service is it on? We’ve got the answer for you below.
Where to watch the Monk movie since it’s not on Netflix
There’s good news for those of you who like to watch at home! The Monk movie is not playing in theaters upon its release on Dec. 8, 2023. The film went right to streaming, and I for one prefer it that way! Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie is currently streaming on Peacock. The project is exclusive to Peacock, which handled production and streaming distribution. And so that’s why it’s very unlikely the film will stream on another platform, including Netflix.
If you really want to watch the mystery-filled reunion movie and don’t have a subscription to Peacock, we’re here to help you out! The streamer offers its Premium tier for $5.99/month with ads, or the Premium Plus tier for $11.99/month without ads.
You can watch on Peacock by following these steps:
- Visit the Peacock sign up page
- Select Premium or Premium Plus
- Create an account by entering a username and password
- Enter your chosen payment method

It truly is a reunion movie as many of the main and fan-favorite actors from the original series reprise their roles in the Monk movie! Those include the man himself Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk; Melora Hardin as Trudy Monk; Ted Levine as Leland Stottlemeyer; Jason Gray-Stanford as Randy Disher; Traylor Howard as Natalie Teeger; and Héctor Elizondo as Dr. Neven Bell.
The newcomers are Caitlin McGee as Monk’s stepdaughter Molly Evans (recast, role previously played by Alona Tal); Austin Scott as Molly’s fiancé; and James Purefoy as Rick Eden.
Mr. Monk’s Last Case starts off with our favorite former detective not doing too well. He had a hard time coming out of the pandemic, which heightened his various fears and extreme OCD. But when his stepdaughter Molly needs him on a case to figure out who killed her fiancé, Monk is ready to get back into the game and start helping people again.
Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and I think the creative team did a great job of balancing the more dramatic aspects of the story with the right amount of comedy. It’s done in great Monk fashion! If you haven’t seen it yet, I think you’ll like the ending. I sure did. Those of you nostalgic over the series and wanting to see the talented cast reunite, this is the movie for you!
The Monk series premiered in 2009 and ran for eight seasons. All eight seasons of the show are streaming on both Peacock and Prime Video. Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie is streaming on Peacock.
