The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window

Seasons: 1

Created By: Rachel, Ramras, Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf

Starring: Kristen Bell, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Shelley Hennig, Christina Anthony, Samsara Yett, Cameron Britton, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, Michael Ealy

The first thing that will strike viewers about this Netflix limited series is its title. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but the tongue-in-cheek title pokes fun at the thriller genre it satirizes.

But it’s not just a silly time in The Woman in the House. Kristen Bell stars as Anna, a heartbroken woman who turns to lots of red wine, some pills, and beach-reach mysteries to ease her loneliness. When a handsome single father moves in across the street, she later believes she’s witnessed a murder. However, she’s unsure of what’s real and what’s just the wine.

It’s true that The Woman in the House is part satire and part thriller, but the dark comedy is all parts insanely watchable. There are characters, dialogue, and moments that will have you laughing, and others will have you on the edge of your seat.

Kristen Bell, known for her television roles in Veronica Mars and The Good Place, is totally up to the task of marrying these two tones, and there’s no way it would have worked without her incredible performance as its centerpiece.

All eight episodes of the intriguing limited series premiered on Netflix on Jan. 28, 2022 and it left many wanting a second season. We can’t suggest watching The Woman in the House enough. Watch, watch, watch!
