Right now, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a teen show as popular as the Netflix original series Outer Banks. After premiering in April 2020, the series quickly amassed a devoted following and launched its young cast members into full-on stars. It’s merely the cherry on top that Outer Banks is one of the best shows to watch on Netflix.

The teen mystery show takes place in the titular coastal town in North Carolina, where the residents are seemingly split into opposing groups: the working-class Pogues and the wealthy Kooks. As the leader of his group of Pogue friends, John B. (Chase Stokes) embarks on a mission to locate missing treasure connected to his father’s disappearance.

Outer Banks follows the ensuing adventure and the bitter feud that erupts between the Pogues and the Kooks. That sense of adventure and mystery made the series one of the top breakouts of 2020, earning mostly positive critical acclaim but even higher marks from its fandom.

While the series might not hit the spot for viewers who aren’t inclined to enjoy some teen angst, Outer Banks is plenty accessible for all Netflix binge-watchers who live for sitting on the edge of their seats. There’s no doubt this one’s a must-watch, and season 2 certainly lived up to the hype, as did season 3! And good news, everyone; Outer Banks season 4 is happening!
