Although Bridgerton fans are waiting with bated breath for the season 3 release date, Netflix gave us something to love in May 2023 with the prequel limited series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. While not a new season of the hit series that everyone knows and loves, it’s a perfect addition to the franchise that we never want to end.

Queen Charlotte centers on the title character, who was created for the series and wasn’t included in Julia Quinn’s book series. India Armateifio plays the younger version of the iconic character Golda Rosheuvel plays in Bridgerton. The series tracks her marriage to King George (Corey Mylchreest) and subsequently complicated rise to power as the queen of England.

Even though the prequel series wasn’t based on a book Quinn had written, the author and series creator Shonda Rhimes wrote a book based on the limited series together. Queen Charlotte, the book, hit shelves less than a week after the series arrived on Netflix. Likewise, a soundtrack released on vinyl featuring the covers arrives later this fall.

Because it’s a limited series, there won’t be a direct second season of Queen Charlotte, but we can hope to see the younger versions of these younger characters and actors back in the Bridgerton-verse in the future.
