5 best romantic movies on Netflix in 2023
2023 is almost over, and all I can say is that it’s been a year! Throughout 2023, Netflix has released tons of great content of various genres. But the genre that many of us always seem to gravitate to is the romance genre.
While Netflix’s romance selection may be extensive, that doesn’t mean all of the romance films on the streamer are worth watching. We would hate for you to have to waste your time endlessly searching for something good to watch. So, we’ve already done the hard work for you and created a list of some of the best romantic movies on Netflix to stream.
Check out our list below!
Love at First Sight
If you’re looking for something heartfelt, Love at First Sight is the perfect movie to add to your watchlist. It follows two strangers who meet and fall in love on a flight to London, but somehow end up accidentally losing each other at customs once they arrive at the airport. They both believe that the chance of them meeting again is slim to none, but they refuse to give up. Could fate intervene and reunite them? Find out by watching Love at First Sight on Netflix.
Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy star as two strangers who fall in love while Jameela Jamil narrates the love story.
The Perfect Find
Another one of the best romantic movies on Netflix would have to be The Perfect Find. It stars Gabrielle Union as Jenna Jones, a 40-year-old fashion editor who after losing her job and experiencing a messy public breakup, does everything she can to make a comeback. However, her plans become slightly thwarted when she meets and falls in love with Eric (Keith Powers), a young videographer who is also the son of her new boss.
Aisha Hinds, DB Woodside, Alani “La La” Anthony, and Gina Torres also star in the film. Since Union and Powers had such great chemistry, it made everything more believable. The soundtrack was amazing as well, featuring songs from the ’90s. Overall, The Perfect Find is a sweet rom-com that we recommend you check out when you get the chance.
Along for the Ride
Along for the Ride is a romantic teen movie based on the best-selling book of the same name by Sarah Dessen. It tells the love story of two teens with a troubled past.
The summer before college, 18-year-old Auden West decides to spend time with her father, stepmother, and half-baby sister in the small beachside town of Colby. She soon meets Eli, a mysterious teen and fellow insomniac. Together, they embark on nightly quests to help Auden experience the carefree teen life she was missing.
Emma Pasarow stars as Auden, while Belmont Cameli plays Eli. Kate Bosworth, Dermot Mulroney, Andie MacDowell, Genevieve Hannelius, Samia Finnerty, Paul Karmiryan, and others join them in the cast.
Always Be My Maybe
Always Be My Maybe is easily one of the best romantic movies on Netflix. Ali Wong and Randall Park star as Sasha and Marcus, childhood friends who had a short fling that ended badly. 15 years later, Sasha and Marcus reconnect and become friends again. Their friendship eventually blossoms into a relationship, but they both have a hard time adjusting to each other’s worlds.
Overall, Always Be My Maybe is a refreshing movie that’ll have you experiencing various emotions throughout. While there are some moments in the film that’ll have you tearful, there are plenty of moments where you’ll be laughing. But I guess that’s expected when you have two comedians starring in the lead roles.
Beyond the Lights
Beyond the Lights is the movie that made me a fan of Gugu Mbatha-Raw. It tells the complicated love story between a troubled rising music superstar and a police officer.
Noni Jean (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is a new music artist who is quickly rising to stardom, but the constant pressures of fame and her overbearing mother lead her to want to end her life. When she tries to do so, her suicide attempt is stopped by young police officer, Kaz Nicol. Sparks immediately start to fly between the two, but they find it hard to start a relationship when those closest to them aren’t supportive.
Nate Parker stars opposite of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Kaz Nicol. Minnie Driver, Colson Baker, Danny Glover, Machine Gun Kelly, and others also star in the film.
