Beckett

Release Year: 2021

Directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino

Starring John David Washington, Boyd Holbrook, Vicky Krieps, and Alicia Vikander

2021 was a huge year for Netflix star John David Washington! The year started with Malcolm and Marie, a huge hit at Netflix, which starred Washington and Zendaya. And, Washington finished up the summer with Beckett on Netflix.

Beckett premiered on Netflix on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021. There’s no doubt this was one of the better Netflix movies of that summer, though it’s not quite right up there with Sweet Girl, Fear Street, and Gunpowder Milkshake for me. I enjoyed Beckett at times, but it was a really good summer for Netflix movies.

The Netflix movie tells the story of Beckett (Washington), a man who is caught up in a chase in Greece following a car accident that killed his wife. Beckett does everything he can to survive.

If you like dramas with a lot of action, Beckett is the movie for you! If not, it’s probably not worth it. We’re still giving it a “skip” for because people don’t typically love these kinds of movies. Washington is excellent in it, so you should watch if you like him, though.

Verdict: SKIP
