The Starling

Release Year: 2021

Directed by Theodore Melfi

Starring Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Laura Harrier, Ravi Kapoor, Rosalind Chao, Loretta Devine, and Kevin Kline

The Starling premiered on Netflix at the end of September 2021. Almost immediately, The Starling shot up to the No. 1 spot on the list of the Top 10 Netflix movies.

In the movie, Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd, who starred in the hit comedy Bridesmaids, reunite as Lilly and Jack, a couple overcome by the grief of losing their baby daughter to SIDS.

This is a tough movie for a lot of people to watch, but it’s also important to recognize grief and how it affects different people differently.

Unless you love emotional dramas, you can probably skip The Starling on Netflix. If you are a fan of emotional (and painful) dramas, The Starling is definitely worth checking out on Netflix.

Overall, the masses are not going to love this movie, and that’s why we’re considering it a skip.

Verdict: SKIP
