The Tutor premiered in theaters in March 2023, and it was released on Netflix in July 2023. It quickly jumped into the top 5 of the Netflix Top 10, but was up against some steep competition to take the top spot.

The Tutor stars Noah Schnapp, best known as Will Byers in the megahit series Stranger Things. In the movie, Schnapp plays Jackson, a student who needs a tutor. Ethan, played by Garrett Hedlund, is hired for the job, but it takes a dark turn when Jackson becomes very invested in Ethan’s life.

I hate picking on movies that have Stranger Things stars in them, so I take no pleasure in this. I’m sorry Noah Schnapp, but The Tutor is going to be a skip for most Netflix viewers. It’s just not very good, and that’s okay. Personally, I’d rather watch Stranger Things again!

With that said, if you love thrillers, The Tutor might be an okay movie for you.
