She’s the Man cast ages: How old was the cast then (and now)?

It’s been 17 years since the world was introduced to the movie She’s the Man! How has it been that long? The comedy starring Amanda Bynes never fails to make me laugh, even to this day. I still rewatch it all the time, and it’s one of my all-time favorite films.

Whether you’re like me or watching it for the first time, the amazing news is that the movie is now streaming on Netflix as of Dec. 1, 2023! I know what I’m doing over the weekend, that’s for sure. With it being more than a decade since the film debuted, we’re taking a look back at how old the cast was then, and now. But first, check out the full cast list below:

Amanda Bynes as Viola Hastings

Growing up, Amanda Bynes was one of my favorite actresses. She and Lindsay Lohan are just top notch and so talented! As of Dec. 1, 2023, Bynes is 37 years old. Her birthday is April 3, 1986. When the movie came out, she was 20 years old and one month away from her 21st birthday.

She of course takes on the lead role as Viola Hastings in the comedy, who impersonates her brother in order to play soccer. Bynes has been making us laugh for years in films like Big Fat Liar and What a Girl Wants, as well as shows including All That, The Amanda Show, and What I Like About You.

Unfortunately for years, the talented actress has been struggling with mental health issues. In February 2022, she filed to end her conservatorship, and was granted the request a month later. However, in June 2023, TMZ reported that she called police after thoughts of self-harm, and mental health professionals recommended she have inpatient treatment. But Bynes chose to leave the facility, but planned to get outpatient treatment.

Channing Tatum as Duke Orsino

Channing Tatum shares an April birthday with his former co-star: April 26, 1980. That means he’s currently 43 years old, and the actor was 26 years old when She’s the Man came out. Playing Bynes’ onscreen love interest, Duke Orsino is a sporty guy, but also sensitive and looking for a real relationship.

The actor first started becoming more known thanks to his role as Tyler in Step Up, and later on Magic Mike increased his recognition in the industry. Over the years, he’s lead films like the G.I. Joe movies, 21 Jump Street and its sequel 22 Jump Street, and Lost City.

Tatum was married to his Step Up co-star Jenna Dewan for 10 years, before the two divorced in 2019. The former couple shares one daughter together. From 2018 to 2020, he dated singer Jessie J. Then the following year, he started a relationship with actress Zoë Kravitz. After two years together, the couple is now engaged.

Laura Ramsey as Olivia Lennox

Laura Ramsey was born Nov. 14, 1982. She recently celebrated her 41st birthday, and was 23 years old when taking part in the movie. Olivia is the pretty and smart girl that falls for Sebastian (as Viola), though Duke likes her as well.

Other than She’s the Man, the actress is known for her roles as Sarah Wenham in The Covenant, Ellie O’Hara in Kill the Irishman, Beca in Hindsight, and Are You Here. The actress seems to be private as her relationship status is unknown, but she’s reportedly dating long-time boyfriend Greg Chait.

Alexandra Breckenridge as Monique Valentine

Does that beautiful face in the photo above look familiar? If you’re not quite sure how to place her, Virgin River fans will know actress Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda Monroe herself! That’s right, Breckenridge was in the hilarious movie, and she played a very funny character — Monique who is Sebastian’s superficial girlfriend. The talent was born May 15, 1982, meaning she’s currently 41 years old. Upon the film’s release, the actress was 24 years old.

Fun fact: She took part in a supporting role in Big Fat Liar which starred Bynes! Other than the Netflix hit series, Breckenridge is also known as Moira O’Hara in the first season of American Horror Story and Kaylee in season 3, Jessie Anderson in The Walking Dead, and Sophie in This Is Us. The star married guitarist Casey Hooper in September 2015, and the couple have two kids together.

Robert Hoffman as Justin Drayton

Robert Hoffman was born Sept. 21, 1985. He is currently 38 years old, and was 21 years old when the comedy was introduced to the world. His character, Justin, is Viola’s awful ex-boyfriend and Duke’s rival in soccer.

While Tatum wasn’t in Step Up 2 (except for a cameo role), he and Hoffman share a sort of connection as the actor starred in the sequel production. He’s also appeared in American Dreams, CSI: Miami, and Grey’s Anatomy. Though he’s probably best known for his YouTube success through his channel, PUNCHROBERT. He gained over 100 million views for his pranks, sketches, dance videos, and more content. His relationship status is currently unknown.

James Kirk as Sebastian Hastings

Sebastian actor James Kirk celebrates his birthday on May 2. Being born in 1986, that means he’s currently 37 years old and was 20 years old during She’s the Man. He plays the actual Sebastian, Viola’s twin brother who chooses to go to Europe with his band. That’s how she’s able to take his place at his school. Some of the star’s other acting credits include Needle in a Timestack, Welcome to Christmas, Boundaries, Summer Love, Final Destination 2, and X2.
