First Wives Club season 4 hasn’t been renewed yet (but the director is hopeful)

First Wives Club seasons 1-3 were recently released on Netflix, and it didn’t take long at all for the show to secure a spot on the streamer’s top 10 TV shows list. The show is so entertaining that you’ll find yourself done with all three seasons in a jiffy. Of course, then you’ll begin to wonder about a fourth season.

Is a First Wives Club season 4 currently in the works? Unfortunately no. If you weren’t aware, the comedy series is not a Netflix original. Actually, it’s a BET+ original series that first premiered back in 2019. There have been three seasons so far which all eventually aired on BET at some point before making their way to Netflix on Nov. 15, 2023.

It’s been almost a year since First Wives Club season 3 ended its run on BET+, and we still haven’t heard any official news from the streaming service or creator about a potential First Wives Club season 4. It didn’t take this long for the show to be renewed for a second and third season, so this is very worrying.

There are some news outlets that have reported that the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes might’ve had something to do with the renewal delay, but we don’t think this is the case. The third season dropped its final episode in December 2022. The writer’s strike didn’t start until May 2023, and the actor’s strike in July 2023. We would’ve most likely heard of a renewal announcement way before these dates.

Although the show’s fate is still up in the air, the good news is that the show hasn’t been officially canceled. So, there’s still a chance it could come back with a fourth season in the future. In fact, one of the show’s directors, Shea William Vanderpoort, is holding hope that the show will eventually return.

On X (formerly Twitter), Vanderpoort responded to a fan’s tweet about wanting more seasons of the comedy series. He responded by saying, “Agreed!” Sadly, none of the other creative team behind the series or cast has come out publicly to express their support for a First Wives Club season 4, but I’m sure they’d be down to do another season if given the chance.

We’ll come back to share new updates if there are any, so stay tuned to Netflix Life!
