Here’s when you can watch new episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge

We’ve still got a long wait ahead for the highly-anticipated second season of Squid Game, but in the meantime Netflix is releasing a Squid Game-themed reality competition unlike anything ever produced by the streaming service before. Squid Game: The Challenge is ideal for newcomers and super-fans of the series as the show includes sets painstakingly designed to replicate the ones we saw on the real show.

Obviously, people in Squid Game: The Challenge don’t die like they do in the South Korean series, but they do still get eliminated. Only one of the 456 players will get the significant multi-million dollar cash prize. The first five episodes of the show started streaming on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Squid Game: The Challenge returns with new episodes weekly

Thankfully for fans of the addictive new reality competition series, you won’t have to wait long for the next batch of episodes to drop. Netflix is airing the season in batches through December 6, 2023.

• First five episodes: Nov. 22, 2023
• Next three episodes: Nov. 29, 2023
• Final two episodes: Dec. 6, 2023

Like all Netflix shows, you can anticipate the new episodes to drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET.

Where we left off at the end of Squid Game: The Challenge part 1

Spoilers ahead!

Before the next few episodes drop, let’s get into what happened at the end of the fifth episode. The remaining contestants were given a rare “treat” in the form of a picnic. Everyone got into pairs to play together, but their little picnic contained a surprise twist. The contestants soon realized every basket contained small bags of marbles, signifiying their next game.

Inadvertently, most of the players put themselves into a situation where they will have to play a game with their favorite person in the mix, and one of them will go home. When the show returns, the pairs will face-off in a game of marbles and only one will return. It’s especially sad when you see the mother/son duo and some pairs who have become like best friends also paired off, meaning they’ll now be directly competing for their spot in the competition.

The trailer also teases a lot of other interesting games and twists to come, including one that looks like a big claw machine!

The first five episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge are now streaming on Netflix with new episodes arriving on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6.
