Long gone are the days when fans could anticipate new Marvel movies and shows frequently popping up on Netflix. Nowadays, the only way you can watch content from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is by paying for a Disney+ subscription.

The latest addition to the MCU, The Marvels, features the highly-anticipated team-up between Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau. Releasing in theaters on November 10, fans will need to head to their local cinema to watch the movie as it is getting an exclusive theatrical release. Check out your local listings at Fandango.

Sadly, The Marvels is garnering very mixed reviews from critics, some of whom praise the movie for its lighthearted vibes, the central trio, and its absurdist comedy, while others have said the movie has a messy narrative and struggles to balance its comedic tone with the more dramatic moments. Currently, The Marvels is on track for one of the lowest-ever opening box office weekends in the MCU, which isn’t a great sign for the future of the superhero franchise.

The Marvels will eventually stream on Disney+ and be available to purchase

As has been the case with all of the other MCU films released in recent years, The Marvels will eventually start streaming on Disney+ and it will be available to rent and/or purchase digitally or on physical media.

Typically, Disney movies stay exclusively in theaters for a couple of months before transitioning to digital/physical media and then streaming on Disney+. If we chart The Marvels‘ trajectory based on the release schedule of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 then we should see The Marvels arrive on digital HD in January followed by a DVD/Blu-ray and Disney+ release date in February.

It used to take longer for Marvel films to move from cinema to streaming, but in the case of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the movie hit theaters in May and was on Disney+ by August.

  • Watch The Marvels now: In theaters
  • Stream it later: Disney+, likely in February 2024
  • Will it be on DVD/Blu-ray? Yes, probably in February 2024
  • Rent or buy it later from digital retailers: Previous Marvel movies have been sold digitally through Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Vudu, Google Play, and YouTube, The Marvels is estimated to become available for digital purchase in January 2024
