13 Going on 30 was released on Netflix on Nov. 1, and everyone’s going back to rewatch the iconic movie to feel all the feels. It’s a rom-com following a teen girl named Jenna Rink who dreams of being popular. She makes a wish on her 13th birthday to be 30 years old and awakens the next day to find that her wish has come true. It’s 2004, she’s 30 years old, and she has no idea how she got there.

Christa B. Allen stars as the 13-year-old Jenna Rink, while Golden Globe Award-winning actress Jennifer Garner plays the 30-year-old version. Other well-known actors starring in the film are Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer, Andy Serkis, Lynn Collins, Ashley Benson, and Brie Larson.

Luckily for Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer, the making of this film brought them together, leading to a long-lasting friendship. Yes, they’re still friends to this day. In fact, they’ve been friends for twenty years, according to Garner.

Garner and Greer met during acting and dance rehearsals for 13 Going on 30, which premiered in April 2004. Since production is believed to have taken place from May to November 2003, this means they met in 2003.

During the movie’s 17th anniversary in 2021, Greer spoke with Insider about first meeting Garner. She said meeting her “was a treat” and that she’s like the “greatest of all time.” She continued to speak highly of Garner, saying that she was professional, never late to work, a great leader, and “crazy fun.”  She had also shared that prior to meeting Garner, she had only heard good things about her, like her support for women. This made Greer feel even more comfortable working with her.

Fortunately, the close friends were able to work together again in the future in the 2014 comedy-drama film Men, Women, and Children. During Garner’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star unveiling ceremony in 2018, Greer gave a heartfelt speech when Garner received her star. Garner had even starred in Greer’s directorial debut, a comedy-drama film titled A Happening of Monumental Proportions. Then, in January 2021, Garner shared a cute photo of them together on her Instagram. They had spent time together by going on a walk. The caption to the post reads, “Always the smartest. The most recent update concerning their friendship was in July 2023. On July 20, 2023, Garner celebrated Greer by sharing a birthday tribute to her on Instagram. She posted a photo of them sitting down and embracing each other. The caption to the post reads, “Twenty years with my JG. I sure am proud to be your friend. Happy birthday, @missjudygreer.”
