More Stranger Things content is on the way this month as Netflix gears up to release its Stranger Things VR for Meta Quest. The award-winning art and games studio Tender Claws, based on Los Angeles, is behind the creation of Stranger Things VR. The studio’s previous credits include Pry, Virtual Virtual Reality and its sequel, Tendar, and more.

Taking place after Stranger Things season 4, after the Hawkins Lab massacre and his defeat at the hands of Eleven, Vecna is plotting his revenge against Hawkins from unknown realities and Stranger Things VR allows players to explore them through Vecna’s perspective. And yes, Jamie Campbell Bower is back to voice the antagonist! Matthew Modine also returns as Dr. Brenner.

Stranger Things VR will be released on November 30 on the new Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 2. You can currently preorder the game from Meta, which retails for $29.99, but if you preorder it ASAP, you can get a 10% discount and purchase the game for $26.99.

Netflix released a look at the gameplay footage, which you can check out below.

Will Stranger Things VR be on Playstation?

For now, Stranger Things VR is only coming to Meta Quest, which is a standalone virtual reality headset. You don’t need a PC or console to use Meta Quest. There are several different versions of Meta Quest, with some of the pricier options running close to $1,000, while cheaper versions, like the older Meta Quest 2, can be purchased for around $300.

As part of Stranger Things Day and Geeked Week, Netflix released a gameplay preview that gives you a taste of what to expect. I wasn’t blown away by all of the graphics but some of the backgrounds, in particular, are quite stunning. Plus, it’s just a trailer for a VR game so it’s hard to judge too harshly from that alone.

Sadly, I don’t own a Meta Quest, though I might pick it up if it ever releases on Playstation VR2. Tender Claws hasn’t confirmed it will, but they did say “additional platforms” will be announced at a later date in this post on X, which bodes well for us Playstation owners!

It was nice to hear the return of Bower as Henry Creel and Modine as Dr. Brenner. You can hear them both in the trailer, along with hints at what else to expect, like more exploration of Creel’s backstory and the relationship to his parents, who also briefly appear.

You can see some more photos from the game on Tender Claws’ website, they show the ominous silhouette of the Mindflayer, and what appears to be a flashback to young Eleven defeating Vecna.

Creel is also the focal point of the upcoming Stranger Things stage play, The First Shadow, which will start production in London soon.
