Sweet Home season 2 is coming to Netflix soon! The streamer just announced the release date along with a new teaser trailer!

Sweet Home season 2 premieres on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. It’s been a long wait for one of the most hyped K-dramas to come to Netflix in 2023. We were expecting to see the new episodes on Netflix in October, but December isn’t bad at all! Netflix confirmed Sweet Home season 2 would be released in the fourth quarter of 2023 during its May Upfronts presentation.

Netflix announced the season 2 release date on Nov. 1.

During Geeked Week, Netflix also released the official teaser for the new season.

The first season of the series premiered on Netflix in December 2020, and it was a major hit for the streamer. While there were rumors about Sweet Home season 2 for a long time, there was nothing officially announced until June 2022. Netflix officially renewed the series for a second season. Normally, we don’t have to wait three years for new seasons of Netflix shows, but that’s going to be the case with this original series.

In October, there was a teaser trailer for Sweet Home season 2 making the rounds online, but it is unclear if it is an official teaser trailer. The video was reportedly posted to a Song Kang Twitter account, but Netflix had not posted the teaser trailer anywhere. It looks like, now, that teaser was indeed fake.

According to a report from Devdiscourse, Sweet Home season 2 filming wrapped in the spring of 2023. Earlier this year, Netflix shared the first look at Sweet Home season 2 at TUDUM 2023. It’s not a long look, but it’s hopefully enough to hold Sweet Home fans over until the end of the year.

Sweet Home season 3 is happening

Whenever Sweet Home season 2 is released, we know it won’t be the final season of the series! Netflix renewed Sweet Home for season 3 and announced the renewal on the same day they announced the second season.

That’s obviously very good news. For one, Netflix is making more Sweet Home, which is a win for everyone. And, two, Netflix renewed the series for two seasons at the same time, which in theory, should cut down the time between the two seasons. Hopefully, we’re not waiting two or three years between seasons 2 and 3 as we have for season 1 and 2.

Season 2 cast

Netflix also confirmed the main cast of Sweet Home season 2 at TUDUM. Check out the full cast below.

  • Song Kang as Cha Hyun-soo
  • Lee Jin-uk as Pyeon Sang-wook

According to the press release, the director of Sweet Home, Lee Eung-bok, teased the second season and how it will feature more monsters and new cast members.

Sweet Home is based on a webtoon of the same name

The Sweet Home webtoon was created by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. It premiered in 2017 and ran for more than 140 chapters through 2020. It’s unclear if there will be more of the Sweet Home webtoon. After the success of the Netflix series, it’s possible it could be revisited, but it doesn’t appear the creators have any plans for that right now.
