Is What Happens Later starring Meg Ryan on Netflix?

Meg Ryan is one of those Hollywood names that we all know. But for the last eight years, the actress has taken a break from sharing her talent onscreen, and we’ve certainly missed seeing her! So it’s great news that her new movie, What Happens Later, is debuting soon. Is the film going to be streaming on Netflix?

Unfortunately if you’re excited to see Ryan once again in a new role and were hoping that it was going to be on our favorite streamer, that’s not the case. What Happens Later is not streaming on Netflix. Distributed by Bleecker Street, the romantic comedy makes its theatrical debut on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023. The film is rated R for language, some sexual references, and brief drug use.

It’s still not known where the movie might stream after its run in cinemas. We’ll have to wait and see for official word to come. Not only is Ryan making her acting comeback since 2015, she’s also directing the project! The talent stars as Willa in the new movie. This is her second time as a feature film director, having taken charge behind-the-scenes in her 2015 movie Ithaca, in which she starred in as well.

Some of the actress’ other notable roles include Carole Bradshaw in Top Gun; Sally Albright in When Harry Met Sally...; Annie Reed in Sleepless in Seattle; the titular voice role in Anastasia; and Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail.

Joining her onscreen as Bill is actor David Duchovny. The personality is an actor, writer, producer, and musician. You may known him best as FBI agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files series, as well as the movies. His film roles also include Connie and Carla, House of D, and The Joneses.

What Happens Later centers around Willa and Bill, two exes who both get stranded at a regional airport overnight due to a snow storm, per the synopsis. They don’t know how long they’ll be snowed in for, and so what other choice do they have than keep each other company? Willa, described as a “magical thinker,” and Bill, described as a “catastrophic” thinker,” may end up having more in common with a lingering attraction than they thought. As they start to reminisce about the past and “compare their lives to the dreams they once shared,” they question whether this reunion is coincidental or “something more enchanted.”
