Is there a The Family Business season 5?

All four seasons of BET’s The Family Business are available to stream on Netflix. They were released on the streamer on Oct. 24, and people are quickly making their way through the episodes. For the people who’ve already watched all the seasons, you’re probably wondering about a fifth season. Is The Family Business season 5 happening? Here’s what we know.

The Family Business is a crime drama series created by Carl Weber. Additionally, it’s based on Weber’s bestselling crime drama book series of the same name. It follows the lives of a seemingly respectable family who runs a thriving exotic car dealership in New York while also hiding a dangerous double life.

The talented cast is made up of Ernie Hudson, Valarie Pettiford, Darrin Henson,
Javicia Leslie, Sean Ringgold, Tami Roman, Miguel A. Núñez Jr., and many others.

The first season originally aired on BET from 2018-2019, followed by the next three seasons on BET+. Now, we Netflix Lifers finally have the chance to watch all four seasons on Netflix.

Has The Family Business been renewed for a fifth season?

As of Oct. 30, BET has not officially renewed the crime drama series for a fifth season. However, it looks like the show may have been quietly renewed based on the show creator’s latest Facebook post.

On Oct. 24, Carl Weber gave an update on what’s going on with the future of The Family Business on his Facebook page. He shared that right when the writers and actors’ strikes started, he and the show’s crew were about 40% finished with The Family Business season 5. So, this basically means a fifth season is happening. Weber also shared that once the actors strike is over, he’ll be able to get back to work on the new season.

Obviously, the fifth season will have to finish airing on BET+ before making its way to Netflix. And in order for the fifth season to stream on Netflix, the streaming giant will have to cut a deal and acquire the streaming rights from BET again. We’ll let you know if this happens.

But for now, I think it’s safe to say that The Family Business will be returning with a fifth season.
