Is Priscilla streaming on Netflix?
In 2022, we got the amazing biographical drama film Elvis that was all about the King of Rock and Roll, starring Austin Butler in the titular role and Tom Hanks. And while Elvis Presley’s story is of course very interesting, another special figure in his life was his wife, Priscilla Presley. Her story isn’t as talked about, but now we’re getting it with the new movie, Priscilla! Is it streaming on Netflix?
Unfortunately, Priscilla is not streaming on Netflix. The film is produced by A24, and will be making its limited theatrical release on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. Then the following week, the production will be available for everyone to watch in cinemas on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023. And so if you really want to check it out, your only option at the moment would be to head to your local theater.
You could wait for the movie to come to streaming eventually. But if you’re impatient and excited like I am, I’m definitely going to go see the film on the big screens! It’s hard to say right now when Priscilla might come to streaming or even where. Could Netflix buy the streaming distribution rights? Potentially. Not all A24 productions are on Netflix, but a very good amount of them are. We’ll have to wait and see.
Even if the biographical drama isn’t going to be streaming on Netflix upon its release, you might still be wondering what to expect. We’ve got all the details for you below!
All you need to know about the Priscilla movie
Priscilla stars Cailee Spaeny in the lead role. I’d say the actress is still a little fresh in the industry, having done a few roles before the movie. But I think after we see her shine as Priscilla Presley, this lovely lady is going to gain much more attention. I mean I can already tell she’s going to do great in the role based off the trailer! Taking on the role of Elvis himself is Jacob Elordi. We shared the full cast list below:
- Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley
- Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley
- Dagmara Domińczyk as Priscilla’s mother Ann Beaulieu
- Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll as Alan “Hog Ears”
- Luke Humphrey as Terry West
- Dan Beirne as Joe Esposito
- Dan Abramovici as Jerry Schilling
- R Austin Ball as Larry Geller
- Evan Annisette as Mike Stone
Written and directed by Sofia Coppola, the film is based on the book “Elvis and Me” by the real Priscilla Presley and co-author Sandra Harmon. The real-life figure also serves as an executive producer. So what can we expect to see in the movie?
The biographical drama starts off with a teenage Priscilla who meets Elvis Presley at a party, per the synopsis. When the couple meets, The King was already a “superstar.” And though he shined bright on stage with all the attention on him, in private he was a different man: “a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend.” We see how their relationship begins, the “turbulent” marriage, and a story about “love, fantasy, and fame” through the eyes of this rockstar’s wife.
In reality, Priscilla and Elvis were married for six years from 1967 to 1973. The two share a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. She passed away Jan. 12, 2023 at the age of 54 following cardiac arrest due to a small bowel obstruction caused by a bariatric surgery she’d had earlier. Though Elvis and Priscilla divorced, she started Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE). The company is the reason Elvis’ mansion and home where he’s buried, Graceland, has become a popular tourist attraction.
Priscilla begins playing in select cinemas Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 and in all theaters starting Friday, Nov. 3, 2023.
