8. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

  • Release Year: 2004
  • Director: Adam McKay
  • Cast: Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Fred Willard, Chris Parnell, Kathryn Hahn, Fred Armisen, Vince Vaughn, Jerry Minor, Laura Kightlinger, Danny Trejo, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, and Tim Robbins

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy is one of the most popular movies of the early 2000s. The film tells the story of lead anchorman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), at a news station in the 1970s. When Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), a woman, joins Ron as co-anchor of the news, Ron and the rest of the news team have a mental breakdown and struggle to move forward. Over the course of the film, Ron and Veronica struggle to work together.

Anchorman is absolutely one of the most ridiculous and raunchy movies on Netflix right now, but it’s so funny if you’re into Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and their brand of comedy. For me, it’s Ferrell, Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner and their chemistry that makes the movie.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is also available to stream on Netflix right now. It’s not nearly as good as the first movie, but it’s a good double feature on Netflix. We often don’t see both movies of a series or franchise available to stream on Netflix at the same time, so take advantage while you can!
