Accepted is another ridiculous, raunchy comedy to stream on Netflix right now. The film was released in theaters in 2006, and it’s actually quite a good rewatch in 2023, I must admit.

The film tells the story of Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long), who gets rejected from every college he applies. Instead of accepting defeat, Bartleby, also known as B, decides to create a fake college, the South Harmon Institute of Technology (SHIT), so his parents will be proud of him. After their fake website goes live and accidentally enrolls hundreds of applicants, Bartleby is forced to double down on the ruse.

The premise is almost too ridiculous. Somehow, the commitment to the bit actually pays off. SHIT seems like a great place to go to school. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something incredibly charming, heartwarming, and fun about this movie. It has aged incredibly well, but there are a lot of good laughs. I’m also a big fan of Long and Blake Lively’s chemistry. It all works for me in Accepted, and it makes for a great rewatch on Netflix.
