10 things nobody wants to admit about Virgin River
By Reed Gaudens
7. Cameron and Muriel are an odd pairing that work
Did you see Cameron and Muriel coming as a couple? I don’t think anyone did! After Cameron expressed his feelings to Mel in season 4, things were understandably awkward for him in season 5. It seemed to take a bit for the show to find something for him to do, which brought him closer to Muriel while working at the practice. Even though there’s an age gap between the two characters, they forge a connection that blossoms into a real relationship. It’s unexpected, but for some reason, it really, really works.
6. Lizzie and Denny don’t have chemistry
As cute as Lizzie and Denny are, sorry! They just don’t have the chemistry of Mel and Jack or Brie and Brady or Brie and Mike or really any other couple on the series. While it’s a more compelling pairing than Lizzie and Ricky, the chemistry isn’t completely there for the young duo. With Lizzie’s pregnancy and Denny’s illness, the pacing of their relationship has been fast-tracked, but there’s a spark missing. Something’s missing. Maybe they will find that spark and chemistry as time goes on, but right now, it’s all just a bit wooden. They’re still worth rooting for, though!
5. Brie should end up with Mike (not Brady)
The series spent a lot of time (well, screen time… not actual time) building up Brie and Brady as a couple. Jack’s sister and his best frenemy are certainly a powerful pairing. There’s a lot of heat and circumstance between them that makes them fun to cheer on. But Mike… Once Brie started becoming closer to the cop, a love triangle was born. And don’t we all love a love triangle? There’s never a wrong answer in a television love triangle. Everyone has their own opinion.
However, in this case, there’s a right answer, and it’s Mike. Brady had Brie, but he lost her to distrust and secrets, thanks to a situation that was out of his hands. They’re a captivating couple, but their ship has unfortunately sailed. It would take a lot of redemption to get them back on track for a romantic reunion. It’s not impossible, but Brie deserves to be happy. All in all, Mike’s the better, more stable option for Brie. He’s the whole package!
