2. Could Rory and Jess have actually worked out?

It’s no secret that the Gilmore fandom has chosen their favorite of Rory’s boyfriends and that boyfriend is Jess Mariano. He’s the polar opposite of Dean because, first and foremost, he’s confident. Still, Jess brought his own issues into the relationship that didn’t always make it smooth sailing. Those issues resulted in Jess leaving Stars Hollow for California at the end of season 3.

In many ways, Rory and Jess felt like soulmates. Their shared loved of literature (which inspired their “literati” ship name) built their mutual attraction and respect, but Jess always had that instinct to run. After the breakup, Jess pops into Rory’s life a few more times, and each time, you can’t help but wonder what could have been. What if he didn’t leave Stars Hollow? What if she had gotten back together with Jess rather than Dean? What if they reconnected in a real way in A Year in the Life? We’ll never know.

1. Is Logan really the father of Rory’s baby?

Back in November 2016, we returned to Stars Hollow for the four-part revival miniseries A Year in the Life, and though it was wonderful to catch up with all of our favorite characters, those final four words became the bane of some fans’ existence. In the last scene of the miniseries, Lorelai and Rory sit in town square, reflecting after Luke and Lorelai’s wedding the night before. It’s then that Rory tells her mother that she’s pregnant.

Although some conspiracy theories would love for the father to be Jess, the leading possibilities are the Wookiee from the “Spring” episode and Logan, who Rory has an affair with throughout the miniseries. It’s since been seemingly/unofficially confirmed that Logan is the father of Rory’s baby, but the show itself does not confirm this information. Instead, the show presents Rory’s pregnancy and its full-circle implications as more important than the identity of the father. All that said, fans will never stop pondering the greatest mystery of the series.

All seven seasons and the revival miniseries of Gilmore Girls are available on Netflix.
