All 5 Mike Flanagan Netflix shows ranked from worst to best
By Bryce Olin
1. The Haunting of Hill House
The Haunting of Hill House was a revelation when it was released on Netflix in the fall of 2018. There’s no doubt that The Haunting of Hill House is the best of Flanagan’s shows. Some might prefer Midnight Mass because Hamish Linklater just kills it, but as a whole, The Haunting of Hill House is the more complete show.
The Haunting of Hill House is based on Shirley Jackson’s novel of the same name. It’s told over nearly three decades and follows the Crain family and their five children through the summer they tried to renovate Hill House and the fallout years later after the death of Nell (Victoria Pedretti). Old wounds reopen.
The Haunting of Hill House is one of the best Netflix shows of all time. It’s executed flawlessly with incredible performances and an intense story. I wish there was more to this story! I would happily check in with the Crains or others who occupied Hill House, but Flanagan confirmed it won’t happen.
The Haunting of Hill House is the perfect binge-watch on Netflix every Halloween!
