All 5 Mike Flanagan Netflix shows ranked from worst to best

2. Midnight Mass
Midnight Mass is Flanagan’s third Netflix series, and it’s so good! It’s definitely the most out there of Flanagan’s shows, but it’s an ambitious swing that works incredibly well. The series premiered on Netflix in 2021. It’s amazing that Midnight Mass ever made it to Netflix given the circumstances. The series shut down in the middle of production for months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The series tells the story of the residents on a small island in the Pacific Northwest, Crockett Island. When Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford) returns home to Crockett Island, he learns of a mysterious young priest (Hamish Linklater) on Crockett Island who tells all of the residents of the island that they got to have faith, faith, faith. The old priest left Crockett Island and never returned, which left a spiritual void, so to speak, according to some of the residents. Oh, and there may or may not be a monster causing problems on the island, too. Riley and his old friend, Erin Greene (Kate Siegel), try to get to the bottom of this midnight mass-ness.
Midnight Mass is one of the best Netflix shows of all time, and it’s made so great by Hamish Linklater’s outstanding performance as Father Paul Hill. Linklater’s performance was the best of the year, although he didn’t get an Emmy nomination. Talk about a snub!
