3. The Haunting of Bly Manor

The Haunting of Bly Manor followed The Haunting of Hill House in 2020, and it’s a great show! I loved The Haunting of Bly Manor, not as much as Hill House but enough! The series is based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw and is inspired by other works of James.

In The Haunting of Bly Manor, Dani (Victoria Pedretti) arrives at a countryside manor to care for two interesting children, Flora and Miles (Amelie Bea Smith and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth). When mysterious things start happening, Dani begins to suspect ghosts and other scary things might be involved.

For a while, The Haunting of Bly Manor was a clear No. 2 on the list of Flanagan’s Netflix shows behind The Haunting of Hill House, but it was jumped by Midnight Mass in the fall of 2021. Overall, The Haunting of Bly Manor is a great story with terrific performances. It doesn’t quite get to that Hill House level in this ghost story, but it definitely a quality horror series.
