Comedian Bill Burr has a new movie releasing this weekend, but it’s not exactly getting the best feedback from critics. If you’re set on watching Old Dads, no one is gonna change your mind, but if you’re on the fence, we’ve curated a list of other Netflix movies you might find more intriguing.

Most of this week’s options are older (but excellent) movies that Netflix recently added to its catalog. There’s some great alternate comedies if you’re not into Old Dads and a few excellent horror films for those looking to keep the scares going in the lead-up to Halloween.

Here’s the best Netflix movies to watch this weekend and a couple you can go ahead and skip.

Us

Two of Jordan Peele’s iconic horror movies are now on Netflix: Us and Get Out. Both are excellent and worth watching this Halloween season, but Us happens to be my favorite of Peele’s because of its eerie uncanny horror.

Lupita Nyong’o is an absolute force in the lead role here, one of the best horror performances of all time. A family vacation turns into a nightmare when a family is threatened by a group of attackers who look exactly like them.

Verdict: WATCH

Old Dads

Bill Burr’s directorial debut is basically just his stand-up act stretched across 100 minutes. Lots of millennial bashing, complaints about political correctness, and “old man yelling at clouds” vibes. Devoid of humor, this story of three dads stubbornly refusing to adapt to a changing world feels outdated and cringeworthy. Unless you’re a huge fan of Burr’s you’re better off skipping this one.

Verdict: SKIP

Long Shot

Instead of Old Dads, consider revisiting this endearing 2019 rom-com starring Charlize Theron as an influential political leader running for president and Seth Rogen as the speechwriter she hires to help her win. Not only do Theron and Rogen have great chemistry but this movie is underrated and surprisingly very sweet.

The Devil on Trial

Your enjoyment of this documentary on the first time demonic possession was used as a legal defense will be predicated on how much you actually believe in this stuff. I found the doc eye roll-inducing as I fail to believe anyone in the Glatzel family, or Arne Johnson, was possessed. Not to mention the Warrens involvement, who have been outed as scam artists multiple times. The doc does address the fraudulence of it all, but only a little.

Verdict: SKIP

Silver Linings Playbook

Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are excellent in this Academy Award-winning film now on Netflix. This charming romantic comedy is the film Lawrence won her Oscar for, so if you’re a fan, it’s worth watching to check out her performance. The story follows a man who gets out of a lengthy stay in a mental institution and moves back in with his parents as he tries fixing things with his ex-wife.
