I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 is coming to Netflix in April 2024

In October 2023, Netflix dropped the teen series I Woke Up a Vampire, and it quickly rose up the streamer’s top 10 TV shows list. Most people have already finished the eight-episode first season by now and are wondering about a second season. Has the show been renewed? Sort of. Although Netflix never officially announced that I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 was happening, it just recently announced the release date for a second season. We shared these juicy deets below.

I Woke Up a Vampire is a Canadian Netflix original created by Thomas Lynch. The first season aired on the Family Channel from May 2023 to September 2023 before making its way to Netflix in October. It’s a show following Carmie Henley, a teen adoptee who doesn’t know who her biological parents are. But on her 13th birthday, her life gets turned completely upside down when she discovers that she’s actually a Blended, half-human, half-vampire.

She thought middle school was hard when she was just a human. When she finds out she’s a vampling and has supernatural powers, she begins to make enemies fast, and dark secrets about her new Blended identity come to light.

Young rising actress Kaileen Angelic Chang stars in the leading role as Carmie, while the rest of the cast includes Niko Ceci, Zebastin Borjeau, Ana Araujo, Aaliyah Cinello, Kris Siddiqi, Charlotte Legault, and others.

Has I Woke Up a Vampire been renewed for a second season?

03/11/24 UPDATE: Since we now have an official release date for a second season, we can confirm that the show has been renewed.

10/25/23 UPDATE: Although I Woke Up a Vampire hasn’t been officially renewed yet, it looks like more episodes might be coming to Netflix soon. 

There were 16 episodes in total that aired on the Family Channel in Canada from May to September 2023. Only eight of the 16 episodes have dropped on Netflix so far. It looks like Netflix decided to split up the episodes into two batches: eight in the first season and eight more in a second season. So, we most likely can expect the remaining eight episodes to be dropped on Netflix in a I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 in the near future. 

As of Oct. 18, the vampire-centric series has not been given the green light for a second season. However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The teen series just recently dropped its first season. Netflix doesn’t typically renew/cancel its new shows so soon after their premiere.

It usually waits to see how many watch the show in a certain time frame before coming to a decision. If tons of people tune in and watch the first season, it will better the chances of Netflix giving the show another go with a second season.

Based on how the first season wraps up, there’s enough material to cover in a I Woke Up a Vampire season 2. So really it all comes down to Netflix seeing the show’s potential.

Get ready because I Woke Up a Vampire season 2 is coming to Netflix on Thursday, April 4, 2024! You can expect eight episodes to be released on the streamer at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date. This is the usual time that Netflix releases new content on its platform. With how things ended in the season 1 finale, it's going to be interesting to see how Carmie's story continues.

How does I Woke Up a Vampire season 1 end?

After Carmie, Dylan, and Kev rescue Madison from the Collector’s clutches, Carmie makes it in time to perform in the musical at her school. Meanwhile, the Collector is distraught that he still hasn’t found his daughter. He continues to push on to find her, but something isn’t quite right with him.

After the musical is over, Carmie receives a call from English singer Rick Astley who reveals that he’s also a Blended. He also leaves Carmie with a cryptic message telling her that soon she’ll have a big decision to make and not to trust everyone she’s around. What could he be talking about?

The most shocking part of the finale is the second to last scene when Carmie finds out that the Shapeshifter is actually her biological mother. The last scene shows the Shapeshifter on top of a building. She speaks out and says that Carmie will have to know the truth eventually. What truth? The truth about her being her mother? We can't wait to find out in I Woke Up a Vampire season 2!
